Check out the latest post - How does UAV work?

So let's get started

Introduction

3D Printing is a process in which a real-life object is made through a printer.
or
It is a process in which we can create a physical object through a digital model file.

It was early known as 'Rapid Prototyping' in the 1980s then after some decades its demand is rapidly growing and then its name changed to 3D Printing.

Nowadays lots of Manufacturers, Engineers, Designers use 3D Printing for their work.

How does 3D Printing work?

To make a Physical object, you will need a digital file that tells the printer where to print the material. The extension of that digital file is STL (stereolithography), this file tells the coordinates to the printer where to put material.
3D Printer process involves building up layer upon layer, it prints layers at different thicknesses, known as layer height.

What are the different 3D Printing technologies?

SLS 3D Printing

SLS 3D Printing uses mostly polymer, the powder is then fitted into a container, where a thin blade layer of material cuts up the material as per the given coordinates, then a lases fuses the small particles of material together to form a single horizontal layer of the part and then blade moves fraction of millimeter to start a new layer, it process repeated until the material is fully finished.

SLA 3D Printing?

It uses a UV-Curable resin as raw material, The resin is poured into a glass-bottomed container, into which the material to be made is submerged. A laser shines UV light on the resin to selectively harden a cross-section of the required shape. Then the platform gradually raises out of the container to build up the print

And lots of other methods are also present but we are not going to talk about these -
  • DLP ( Direct Light Processing )
  • Blinder Jetting
  • Material Jetting
  • SLM ( Selective Laser Melting )

  • There are some materials used in 3D Printing are as follows -

Starter 3D Printing Material -

  • PLA
  • PETG

Engineering 3D Printing Material -

  • NYLON
  • ABS

Flexible 3D Printing Material -

  • TPU
  • PP
